Fashion Friday!

This past week I have been soaking up being lazy. My grad class/internship kicks off next week, so I imagine I will be quite busy. I don't know how much I will be able to keep the blogging going from September thru December, but I will try my darndest! Here are some of my looks from the past week or two!

I felt inspired by the Adorkable Queen - Zooey Deschanel when I wore this pretty print dress and bright accessories!
Style inspiration :)
Plus look at the cool back!

Dress: Target (Clearance!)
Shoes: Old Navy
Cardi: Target

In the above look I am actually wearing a mod-style dress (purchased from Rachel the Hat) as a top. The dress is a bit short and snug on my bottom to wear to work without leggings and it's too hot for leggings, so this was my solution to be able to wear it! I love the adorable Peter-Pan collar

Skirt and Cardi: Maurices
Shoes: Aldo
Dress: Rachel the Hat blog sale

Just a simple work-outfit on a HOT day
Pants: The Limited
Shirt: Kohls
Necklace: Maurices

I don't love this outfit as much looking back at it, but I really dug it on the day I wore it :)
Dress and Belt: Maurices
Cardi: Kohls
Booties: Target

I looooooooove this dress from ModCloth. I have it in mustard yellow too and when the red came back in stock I jumped on it! I have a new color obsession with turquoise and red. I know that's not a new combo, but I only recently embraced it :)

Dress: ModCloth
Cardi: Old Navy
Necklace: JCrew via Ebay
Booties: Target

I even busted out some red lips for dinner:
This last outfit was definitely one of my faves in recent weeks. I felt comfortable and super cute.

I love how Sophie has made cameos in 90% of these photos. I actually have 2 pups! She's just the mama's girl of the two.

Wish List: Little Black Heels

Tragedy struck in my life this week.

My most practical, comfortable, functional, yet still cute black shoes are on their last leg... er heel. I have walked through the heels, to the point of metal sticking out the bottoms. It's sad. Sad. Sad.
Found at Target

And yet, maybe not so sad....

This means, I must get some new shoes. Aw, shucks. Mama needs new shoes, whatever shall I do?

I shall shop. That's what I shall do.

So, in addition to a great quality work tote, I am officially adding practical, black high heels to my wish list.

They need to be a lower heel - somewhere around 2 inches - so that I can function in them 8 hours a day at work. Plus, I find that I am far more coordinated in shoes that are actually strapped to my feet, which is why I have gotten so much mileage out of this pair, so I'd like the new ones to also have a strap of some sort.

Here are some inspirations for what I'd like:

All photos found on pinterest - you can see the rest of my "wish list" board here: Wish List Board.

I will probably end up ordering the ones in the top photo from Target, since that's where I got my other ones, but it has certainly been fun looking around at all of the gorgeous footwear on the web!

I am, honestly, quite proud that I have worn out a pair of shoes. It feels good to have used something so often and so completely that it needs to be replaced. Have you ever walked through a pair of your favorite shoes? Or worn out another favorite piece?

July Birch Box

One of the blogs I read regularly, The Small Things Blog, is a lovely little blog by a woman named Kate. She gives hair tutorials, make-up tutorials, and regularly reviews her monthly Birch box. I was really intrigued about this and another subscription, Ipsy. These are monthly subscriptions in which you get sample-sized goodies of higher-end products to try out. I loved this concept when I learned about it because I am always trying to find quality hair and beauty products, but I hate spending a ton of money just to try something out that doesn't work for me. I somehow convinced my loving, wonderful husband that this would save us money in the long run, since I wouldn't just be buying beauty products on a whim. So, I signed up for both.

For the month of July, this was my Birch box:

Photo from Birch Box website

It contained:
1. Number 4 Super Comb Prep and Protect
2. 100% Nourishing Body Cream
3. COOLA Classic SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face
4. Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow!
5. TanTowel Classic Formula

Now, I admit, I have been too scared to try the tan towel, but I have attempted everything else. My absolute favorite product in this box - the Prep and Protect Spray. It is awesome! I sprayed it on my wet-hair after a shower and let it air dry over night. My hair was so silky and smooth the next morning! This product is completely awesome. My sample is almost gone.

The body cream is great. It has an amazing coconut smell and is very thick and creamy. It is also vegan, which is another plus and it makes it husband-friendly.

The facial sunscreen was really nice. It was very light and didn't go on oily. I just kind of smacked some on my face before I went on a run, and was pleasantly surprised as I really didn't have any type of expectations for sunscreen. My favorite thing about this sunscreen through was the scent. It had such a lovely, light, fresh, cucumbery smell. It was fabulous.

I had tried this Benefit make up before, and hadn't loved it. I think I'd had the wrong color for my complexion though. I liked it better this time around and for light coverage, it's great. I had to build up coverage a little bit, and then it was fine. However, I am not running out to buy this one.

So that's that. July's Birch Box. If you are interested in subscribing to Birch box ($10 per month) just go to this website - which is my personal referral link.  Or, if you'd rather sign up with out my referral link, you can always put yourself on the waiting list here.

What I've Been Wearing

I've been lazy on the instagramming this past week - I suppose real life got in the way a bit. But anyway, here are all my outfits from the past week and a half or so...

I felt a little vampy in this outfit
Skirt: Old Navy
Top: Kohls
Shoes and Bow: Target
Belt: Stolen from another skirt

Just a casual outfit I wore to a get-together with friends, but dang, I felt sexy.
Top: Kohls
Pants: Target
Shoes: These are my Izzie-ate-them-but-my-family-got-them-fixed-again shoes
The hubs also thought it would be cute to jump in on my outfit pics. He looked pretty cute too :)

Work outfit - I had to train all day, so I was going for comfort
Sweater: Maurices
Pants and Shoes: Target
Necklace: Flea Market find from my mama-in-law
Bracelets: assorted places
I was dying to wear these new booties! I may, or may not, have written an entire blog post about how stupid booties are,  but hey, I am a woman and am allowed to change my mind :)
 Dress and Cardi: Maurices
Shoes: Target (clearance! $10!!)

Just a standard work outfit
 Dress: Old Navy
Scarf: Vera Wang for Kohls
Shoes: Modcloth.com - I am really getting some milage out of these babies this season!

Ah! Those shoes! Swoon.
I have seriously been dying to wear this dress and I finally had an appropriate occasion! It is a little too short to wear to work without tights and it's just been too hot to wear tights, so I was super excited to break out this bad boy to go to a graduation party.

Dress: blog sale from Rachel the Hat
Cardi: Old Navy
Belt: Target
Shoes: Justfab.com (I call them my Barbie shoes)

Make sure you stay tuned for my very own, first ever blog sale. I hope to have it up in the next few weeks - I am still sorting through which clothes/shoes/accessories will be going up for sale and working on how to best calculate postage/shipping costs! Any input from experienced sellers is very welcome!
